The Best of Days - By Faith - 6/24/11

The word of the LORD came upon me very heavily this week on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning saying that these are very remarkable days that we His children are living in.  In one very specific sense, it is the best of days for believers.  And it's all about the opportunities that we all have to exercise faith and please God our Father.

You see, the book of Hebrews talks a lot about faith and how it is impossible to please God without it.  Hebrews 11:6 says

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

There is so very much wrapped up in this issue of faith and the power that it has to offer us to live lives of power and abundance today.  Notice how the 11th chapter of Hebrews begins in verse 1 by defining faith as being the “substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  THIS IS THE KEY to why these are in a way the best days of our lives.

You see, we have an opportunity today to do something that we will not be able to when we are in heaven.  We have the opportunity to please God by exercising and demonstrating in a mighty way the very faith that He defined for us in Hebrews 11:1.  Believing and trusting in Him even though we have not yet seen Him.  When we are in heaven, the bible says in 1 John 3:2 that we will see Him:

“it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

The thing is that at that point on that glorious day, we will be perfect (we shall be like Him).  We will no longer have the struggle with our sinful flesh that Paul describes in Romans 7.  But also at that point, we will no longer be able to exercise the Hebrews 11:1 definition of faith in God because we will have seen Him.  The opportunities that we have today will have passed and while we will be with God in perfection, we will not be able to do this simple thing that blesses and pleases Him so much today… believing Him whom we have not yet seen.

The LORD showed me that this is what He was speaking about when in John 20:29 (after showing a doubting Thomas the visual proof that He has risen as He said He would), Jesus said “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

So you and I have the opportunity today, as children of God, to bless our Heavenly Father by choosing to believe His word… no matter what we see… and not matter what we feel.  No matter what storm you may be facing nor what Giant may present itself before you.  To walk with Him like some of the heroes of the hall of faith did in Hebrews 11… Like Abraham and Enoch who walked and communed with Him whom they could not see, and believed Him.  Just the fact that Abraham believed God (whom again, he could not see), it was counted unto him as righteousness and salvation even before Jesus came and did His perfect work for us on the cross.  Also about Abraham, God spoke these words through Paul in Romans 4:16-18:

“16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.”

So take advantage of today and choose to believe God, calling things which are not as though they are according to the word of the LORD.  It pleases and blesses Him.  And He wants to do great and mighty things in His kingdom THROUGH YOUR LIFE.  God is boasting in His children and writing in the books in heaven more stories in lives today about the heroes of faith… even in your life as you read this.  It is directed to YOU.  Let His name be known in your story!!

 Shalom
