Gerald's Updated Message

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:38-39...

UPDATE: November 2009

An Important Message From The LORD God Almighty

Salutation
Hello beloved, my name is Gerald L. Prater and the historical accounts written on this web site are about me.  A true story, it tells of redemption, dramatic life change, passion, and the awesome power and presence of the true and living God among all of us.  It is my life, presented as an open book, a living testimony and witness of great things (signs and wonders) that God has done in and through me.  I present it to proclaim His excellencies and in hopes that a few might believe the good news of Jesus Christ and receive His gifts of abundant life now and salvation from coming calamity.

How God got my attention with a brain tumor
With the tremendous help of my sister, Constance Prater, we created the GeraldMedicalMiracle.com web site in May 2007 documenting a very significant event in my life that involved a serious life-threatening health crisis and subsequent surgery that my LORD Jesus used as a wake-up call, mercifully opening my eyes and revealing Himself to me in a powerful way so that I would stop simply going through the motions.  I sincerely think of the story of those 11 days between April 27 and May 7, 2007, as my spiritual awakening or “road to Damascus” experience like the Apostle Paul experienced in Acts chapter 9.

Another biblical example that I use to describe my reaction to this way that God got my attention is when Moses saw the burning bush at mount Horeb in Exodus 3:2-16.  When I looked back and reflected on the miracle that just manifested in my life (my burning bush), I stopped, looked, and went to Him to inquire about it (see my description in I Want to Know Your Ways).  Just as God did with Moses, one of the first things He spoke to me about was taking off my shoes (removing things I had in my life that were defiling) because I was entering holy ground.

My experience also parallels Moses’ in that he had known about God prior that encounter on mount Horeb and afterwards came to trust and truly know Him intimately.  Also, just as was Moses’ experience, after He got my attention, God showed me what a mighty God He is and how in Him, we can do amazing things.

It is my desire that reading my story might serve as a burning bush for some, prompting them also to “go and inquire of the LORD.”

To see the full story of how the LORD used that brain tumor to get my attention, read the story here.

The rest of the story since my brain surgery
Since my awakening during those 11 days in 2007, I have experienced dramatic life transformation, becoming somewhat radical in my walk with Christ.  God has given me an unquenchable hunger and desire for getting to know His ways through His word and an increased ability to see how He manifests His presence in and around us so clearly everyday.  God himself has truly not changed and the way He operates in and through us is in no way different than the way He did in the lives of people described throughout the Bible.

As I now look back over the time since my surgery, I can clearly see numerous examples where God was molding me, preparing me, and later has used me as a vessel through which He has touched the lives of others.  In some cases with supernatural signs and wonders including things such as physical healing, Holy Spirit directed intercession, taking authority to cast out demons, and other situations where it has been obvious that His hand was orchestrating the events.  From my perspective, it is crystal clear that God has been doing all of these things and showing them to me for a clear purpose… to remove all doubt from my mind that He is at work, that this is all for His purpose, and it’s not just in my imagination.  Also, the Holy Spirit bears witness of this (confirms it to me) deep inside of my being and has prompted me to write and share details of the rest of this story.  The links in the left hand column of this page provide an outline that continues and tells the rest of my story.  After reading it, it is my hope that you will understand why I am not hesitant to boldly make the statements in The Message below.

He Who Has an Ear Let Him Hear
Before I get to the statement let me talk briefly about this phrase that Jesus used throughout the gospels and in all seven letters to the churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.  I believe that what Jesus was saying repeatedly here is connected to Romans 1:19-21 and Psalm 19 where God essentially says that literally everything around us is screaming at us about God’s existence and message.  I have truly experienced this in a big way in my life as my spiritual walk has matured.  I have found that as I walk more and more in the center of His will, Jesus (who is holding all things together) is using all things (music, messages of all types, situations and scenes) to communicate with me.  With spiritual ears (of the Holy Spirit) that are diligently seeking to hear Him, there are a lot messages from the Creator that we can all hear.  But with deaf ears (as well as blind eyes), most of those messages will not be received by most people.  As such, I know that there will be some who will read my testimony and this message and will not understand or be able to accept or benefit from it.  It is my sincere prayer today that through this my ministry that some who are spiritually blind and deaf would be made to see and hear.

CS Lewis made popular a notion that when we look at everything that Jesus said and taught when He was here, we face a trilemma having to conclude one of three things about him—He was either a liar, a lunatic, or LORD.  He was either an accomplished pathological liar deceiving everyone, or he thought he was telling the truth but was hopelessly insane, or he was the LORD God Almighty.  As you read my testimony, you will have to come to a similar conclusion about me… I am either lying about all of this, I am insane, or the events that I describe have been orchestrated and purposed by the God of Creation.

The Message
On this early morning of Nov. 24, 2009 I am writing and posting this message in response to a very pressing burden that my LORD Jesus has placed on my heart.  Over the past months, it has been gaining intensity in my thoughts and has progressed to the point where it is almost all I ever think about and it pounds through me almost continually.  Early this morning after an extended time of prayer and communion, God showed me in an unmistakable way that delivering this message is my ministry.  I think it is my calling, my very reason for being, and has been His purpose for me and my destiny since before the world was formed.  I know that I am not alone in feeling the burden of this message because many, many other people have also been seeing it.  Simply stated, the message that I need to proclaim is this:

The great and terrible day of the LORD is quickly approaching and He will indeed come like a thief in the night catching many foolish virgins without oil in their lamps (Matthew 25:1-13).  The Bridegroom comes and it is nearly the midnight hour.  If you truly believe that Jesus died for you and rose again on the 3rd day to ascend to the right hand of the Father and will come again, today is the day for you to live your life radically for Him.  Take heed and repent of your sinful and lukewarm ways -- be very deliberate about living out your faith, trusting in the LORD, and letting your life be about doing His business.

I believe that this next day of visitation will be when Jesus comes to rapture His bride (the church) and we will be caught up with Him in the sky and changed in the twinkling of an eye (1 Thessalonians 4:17 and 1 Corinthians 15:52).  Through careful study of God’s word, prayer, and meditation, God has shown me and I think He is making it clear what will happen in our coming visitation.

In John 14:2-3 before departing after His first coming, Jesus assured the founders of His church that He was going away to prepare a place for them (indeed for all of us who are in Christ’s church) and that He would come again to receive them.

Jesus told several parables about the kingdom of God that talked of how the Master would return to His servants from a long journey.  In the parable of the 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), let me point out the following things:

  1. Of the 10 virgins, all were believers (they all had lamps and were waiting for the bridegroom to return.
  2. Five of the virgins were foolish (not ignorant) – by definition, a fool is someone who knows what they should do but doesn’t do it.
  3. When the hour (midnight) arrived, all of the virgins rushed to go meet the bridegroom and be taken away to the wedding, but the foolish ones were not prepared and had to go and get themselves ready.

Jesus will indeed come at an hour that no one knows to take away His bride (rapture the church).  There will be Christians who, although sealed and saved from eternal damnation, like the foolish virgins will miss the bridegroom – they will miss the rapture and will not be spared from going through the coming time when God pours out His fearsome judgment on a sinful and non-repenting world (the great tribulation).  The bible makes it clear in Revelation 7:13-14 that there will be saints who will come out of the great tribulation.  This will be a time of great revival and I believe that many of the Christians who are left behind will be actively involved in that revival.

Saints, we serve a just God and Heavenly Father and He does not want to pour out His wrath and vengeance on His children.  And as the bridegroom, Jesus does not want to pour out judgment on His bride.  In the seven letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation, Jesus cites the tribulation when He both warns that He will let some go through it (verse 2:22 and verse 3:3) and promises others that they will not go through it (verse 3:10).  While reading the letters to the seven churches, please also take note of how many times Jesus says He hates the Nicolaitans (people who claim to be Christians but who are not).

The bridegroom is coming and it is almost midnight. As I look around today, God has given me the ability to see what Jesus described in Matthew 24:38-39 when He said that when He came for us, it would be just as it was in the days of Noah before the flood – people would be going about life oblivious to Noah’s warnings about the flood until it was upon them and it was too late.  Jesus then went on in verses 40-41 to show a pretty clear picture of what will happen when he takes His bride away – some will be taken and some will stay.  Finally in verses 42-44 He admonishes us (in just one of many places) to watch and be ready.

Make no mistake.  It has not been given to me nor is it my intention to predict a specific day or time.  For even Jesus himself said when he was here as a man that no one but the Father knew when that day was.  It is not my intention to encourage fear or other actions you might take like when preparing for a coming storm.  This is not a call for people to isolate themselves or to build bunkers and hoard up supplies to weather the storm (for saints that would be demonstrating a lack of trust in our LORD).  In the Bible we are repeatedly encouraged to be sober, watch, and not be caught sleeping when this time comes.

I believe that we are today in a time of the convergence of many prophecies.  In Daniel 12:4, Gabriel told Daniel that in the last days knowledge would be increased.  God showed me how He had said through the prophet Joel (Joel 2:28) that it would come to pass that He would pour out His spirit on all flesh.  I believe that today God is pouring out a special anointing of the Holy Spirit much like He did in the church at Pentecost like He described through the prophet Joel (I think there are others as well today who are receiving this anointing and carrying this same burden).

God showed me how 1 Chronicles 12:32 tells of the “sons of Isachar,” men that had understanding of the times.  I believe that in me and others, God is today raising sons of Isachar, people of wisdom and discernment who can look around with understanding of the times and warn the saints.  For it is not His will that anyone be caught unprepared.

Even Jesus spoke about this and cautioned us to be watchful and understand what is going on around us.  The parable of the 10 virgins cited above in Matthew 25 is one of several places where Jesus himself speaks prophetically of the way this time will be and how many will be caught unprepared.  In Luke 12:54-56, after having just finished giving parables about being prepared for the LORD’s return to his servants, Jesus admonishes us saying how is it that we can discern the weather but not be able to see the sign of this time.

I have to tell you that I am not anyone special in that I am saying these things or able to see the signs around us.  It is only by the grace of God that He has shown these things to me and opened my eyes so that to me the signs and understanding are very obvious.  The things that I say here, I can not help but to say.  If I said anything different, I would be lying or worse, disobedient.  My LORD also reminds me that to whom much is given, much is required.

Therefore I do not take the delivery of this message as a trivial matter and I have given this much prayer and contemplation.  However, given the heavy nature of this burden, the special anointing that I have experienced in ever-increasing intensity over the past 2-1/2 years, and the way that God has recently been very intentional at confirming the work of His hand for me, I have absolutely no doubt about the authenticity and importance of this message.  In recent months God has given me increased boldness and passion for this message.

Summary
Indeed, this is a call for repentance and for Christians to become radical in giving their lives to Jesus and live as though He was always standing or sitting next to you (for He truly is).  Knowing that this is coming, we should all be more fanatical about being about our Father’s business, living every moment for Him and sharing the good news of what He has done with others who do not know.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, it is important today for us all to realize the reality and intensity of the war that we are in (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).  This war is spiritual, is intensifying, and if you don’t take it seriously, you will be a victim of it.  One of the greatest tricks that Satan is playing today is convincing people that he doesn’t exist, that there is not really a spiritual war, and time is not of the essence.  Don’t be a victim.

In Romans 13:11, the Apostle Paul wrote:

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

In the beginning of the book of Revelation, the angel of the LORD inspired John to write the following promise to His servants:

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written there-in: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3)

Finally at the end of the book, Jesus makes the following statements in his own words:

And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (Revelation 22:12)

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.  I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.” (Revelation 22:16)

Surely I come quickly.” (Revelation 22:20)

Be encouraged and look up, for your redemption is near!

Just as he had somewhat of a theme song for me (I'll Trust you Lord) when I went through my brain surgery, Donnie McClurkin has another song that hits directly on the theme of this message.  Listen closely to the words of this song... for hese are indeed the Days of Elijah.
